Nutrition in any sport is vital. Nutrition isn’t just eating the right food or counting calories, its about eating enough and making sure you have the right fuel in your body to get the job done. On a daily basis you should be hydrating, drinking at least half your body weight in fluid oz. Its extremely important on a big workout day to get a good, healthy breakfast in you. In a perfect world breakfast would be your largest meal, lunch your second biggest and dinner following as the smallest meal of the day. During your workout you should constantly be drinking, not just water, but some sort of electrolyte. Water should be used just to wet your mouth every once and a while, electrolytes can make or break you during a workout. My favorite drink to use on the bike is the raspberry Skratch. For every hour you plan to be out thats one bottle you need to take. Along with bottles of electrolytes and water, depending on how long your ride is, you should have some sort of food. Anything from a granola bar to a gu works, you don’t want to be out on a ride and feel a bonk coming on without any other nutrition in your back pocket. Nutrition is one of the most important parts of a workout, if you don’t fuel right you aren’t going to preform the same!!
Remember to stay rubber down!
